just being consistent

…thinking about food!
Ate at some really nice places last week in Chicago so thought I’d check ‘em out. One, where I had great fresh seafood was called Petterino’s on North Dearborn. It had the impression of being an independent restaurant but I now realise there’s this whole chain of restaurants belonging to a company called – and how cheesey is this – Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (ew!). Must be a pretty good company though if Maggiano’s and Shaw’s Crab House are anything to go by… You can see their website here

My first encounter with sushi was in Chicago in 1989. After clearing up after one of my fellow travellers, I later threw up too. I can now put it down to travel sickness from the Greyhound but funnily enough, sushi wasn’t a particular favourite of mine for a few years following that incident. Fifteen years on seemed like a good time to overcome the showering-sushi-in-chicago-shannanigans and I had a good meal at Izumi sushi (bit coriandertastic though. Or is it “corianderification” in US English?)
