Had a fantastic day today with one Anne Donnelly: started off at Humayan’s Tomb (a UNESCO site) which was beautiful and peaceful in contrast to the bustle of the city, then moved on to India Gate and the President’s House and government buildings. Next stop was Jama Masjid or ‘The Friday Mosque’ in Old Delhi, built in 1658 as the mosque of Shah Jahan’s capital city and now the third largest mosque in the world. We took a rickshaw around Chadni Chowk bazaars and the old markets which was highly speedy and highly amusing!
Saw the colourful homes of the Jain neighbourhood before moving on to Connaught Place (which was mostly closed) and finally on to Delhi Haat where the shopping and bartaring fun began!!
