Hmmm. There’s a story about US Sky Marshals and their overly smart clothing at SFGate.com which was linked in this month’s Crypto-gram. My favourite quote from the article:
“Professional demeanor, attire and attitude gain respect,” said spokesman David M. Adams. “If a guy pulls out a gun and he’s got a tattoo on his arm and (is wearing) shorts, I’m going to question whether he’s a law-enforcement officer.”
So that’s fantastic. Firstly, a healthy dose of discrimination based on appearance. Always encouraging in any aspect of law enforcement. The tragedy is that, according to Mr. Adams, all a terrorist need do to avoid suspicion is dress like a preppy dork. How sad…
