Why do people always give me such awful photographs. Today I’ve been assembling a short document for a conference, with photographs and bios of some of the attendees and speakers. Obviously, we have to ask these people (or their admin) for a photograph to include, and some bio text.
Getting on for half of the photographs I’ve received have been low (web) resolutions, blurred, resaved JPEGs with huge compression artifacts or 256-colour GIFs (not bw!), or a combination. They look disgusting, especially in comparison to the photographs from people who have sent high-resolution, publication quality shots.

And to add insult to injury, I’ve received yet another this morning – in response to a request for a better photograph!
